This one always winds me up, and makes a perfect rant.

Dodgy whiplash claims and spiraling car insurance costs. Here in the UK it has got out of hand, with insurance companies selling information to solicitors, who then try and convince people to make a claim, with this no win no fee culture.

The end result, everyone (apart from insurers and solicitors) loses as premiums keep increasing.

Be interesting to see if this is a worldwide epidemic, or is it a UK/US one?

Apparently even staged crashes are on the rise, so people can fake whiplash claims

At least in the UK it's been flagged by MP's, so maybe something will finally happen?

It's kinda the easiest thing to fake. Slap on a neck brace and pretend that it hurts when your move your neck. Tell you what they can do though Take the ones that are found out as frauds, and put them in that Nissan Jeremy was testing in Japan. The they can truly feel what it feels like.

To be serious though, fake insurance claims are a thing all over the world. That much I know. You are always going to find someone that takes advantage of some or other system, and everyone else has to deal with the consequences. Nowdays, to try alleviate any fears people have with these companies, they claim that they insure you as an individual and according to the way you drive... I think that's just another marketing gimmick TBH.

Not head about these sort of companies before, interesting.

Going back to your point on whiplash is the kind of the easiest thing to fake, must agree so maybe that's part of the reason why there so many of them.

How many times have you seen sitcoms where someone fakes whiplash to get out of something or to get sympathy? lol I've been seeing that in sitcoms since I was a young child. It just showed people how easy it really is to fake something like that.

As for the insurance, it could only be here in SA, but there are at least 3 or 4 major insurance companies that claim they treat you as an individual and won't judge you or charge you for the way others drive.
