Do you approve pingbacks to your site? Why / not?

I've read you shouldn't approve pingbacks because doing so removes some of the SEO "juice" the link gives your site. Am wondering whether I've properly understood the advice (for starters) .. and what others do and why.

Typically I approve, then unapprove the pingback a little later - an approach which highlights the fact I don't really know what I'm doing!

I used to moderate them, now to be honest I tend to leave them unanswered. People argue if you approve, then the link becomes reciprocal, as opposed to leaving them and it remains a one way to you.

Guess one of the SEO bods will have a better or defacto answer!

As mentioned a pingback will give a link to other site. Some will say never to do it. Others will say no harm as it could be a nofollow link. However if the site you are linking to is considered amongst bad neighbourhood then you are in trouble. So as Steve said, best bet is to leave them alone which will save you some time too

I tend not to, I have read so much conflicting information about this that I took that stance that its giving link juice away.
I may well be wrong but that's our policy!
