Quite a subdued rant really about Microsoft ...

Why, oh why dear Microsoft didn't you produce a guide for XP users on how to use Windows 7? It's the obvious thing to do, given so many of us have happily used XP for so long we've forgotten what it's like to tackle anything new.

Why didn't you produce an in-computer Help function worthy of its name?

Why didn't you sit down and think what ordinary business mortals might need to do to set up their email signatures, standard documents etc and organise the layout of your "ribbons" (?) accordingly? You've given me loads of new facilities that I don't understand and may never need ... and made me work harder than I like doing to locate the tools I require on a daily basis.

I think I like Windows 7 ... but am having to call on a kindly neighbour with better IT skills than me to show me how to use it! Grrr, Linda

Linda if you ever need to know how to do something with software etc look at you tube and someone has done a how to clip on it.

Got me out of trouble loads of times.

Wouldn't it be great if they just updated XP, but left it looking the same.

When I got a new car, the pedals were in the same place as the old one, electric windows were where I expect to find them, the doors opened the same way, and I worked out how to use any new bits and bobs within a day of driving it.

I'm hanging onto Vista and Office 2007 for as long as possible, as everytime I look at Clives Win 7 laptop, I can't find anything

When I looked at the customer blurb introducing Windows 7, it seemed to be written by computer enthusiasts. They were really pleased with all these glossy things their "baby" could now do.

They'd forgotten about the sizeable percentage of buyers who just want a tool that's immediately easy to use.

I wonder how many Technical Authors Microsoft employs? A good Technical Author would have done a much better job on the documentation for customers!!! Linda

(Enter the geek. )

I don't think its all that bad. But then again, I love the interface. Its purty :3
To me vista ismore complex. Its security is a nightmare. I have this thing called consent.exe that drives me nuts, because it activates when I install something, want to play my sims 2 game, or randomly when I load an application.

Thanks,
