Oh dear, bit of an advertising fubar for Apple

They have been touting it's 4G capabilities, which it turns out is only compatible for the US and Canada. So they've been told to remove any 4G references from European sales literature.

"4G mobile phone networks, which promise much faster web surfing, have yet to arrive in the UK.

But even when they do, the frequencies to be employed for the new networks in Britain - and the rest of Europe - are different from those used in the US and Canada.

That means that the "4G" iPad, in its current configuration, can never connect to 4G networks in Europe."

So save your money and buy an iPad 2

Glad I just got a hand me down iPad 2 from my colleague now!

I heard they are facing this same issue across most of the globe, I believe Australia were one of the first to start investigating this.

I think this is just a continuation of the miss-leading adverts for broadband speeds! I guess we could say that at last the regulators are doing something about it, finally.

Thanks,

Heard about this. Think Apple mention somewhere in there marketing about the details of 4G coverage.

On a slightly different note Everything Everywhere (T mobile & Orange Merger) or whatever they're wants faster roll out of 4G in Britain.

Don't know when they will be rolling it out but pretty sure yoiu will need a 4g capable phone and a contract for 4g as well.
