Got to be honest, after convincing myself the country would be holding its head in shame in the morning, I thought it was fantastic!!

Build a statue of Danny Boyle and call off the hench men

Did get lost in a couple of places, and did wonder what Abraham Lincoln was doing there, till the commentator said it was Brunel

Loved the 007 spoof with the Queen, and Mr Bean with Chariots of fire Thought he got our mickey taking sense of humour portrayed about right.

Well what did you think? Did you breathe a sigh of relief, or did you think it was terrible? Be interesting to see what the perception was outside of the UK?

Without wanting to be offensive to anyone it was a little bit to PC, it started of by showing how great this country once was with the industrial revolution and ended with a geriatric singing out of tune. The lighting of the flame, or at least the engineering of it was impressive. The highlight for me, was going to bed with the knowledge that the people in the stadium would spend the next 3 or 4 hours trying to get home

Thanks,
Barney

I thought it was brilliant. I was up till past midnight waiting to see SA walk into the arena. My favorite parts were the childrens stories and of course Mr Bean. lol The best part though was when the house was lifted and the inventor of the world wide web was sitting at his desk working on his PC.

I thought it was a job well done and you guys were nervous for nothing :P

Lol! Naughty! I loved it but had to give up and go to bed after Sir Geriatric sang! Being a 'bit of a geriatric' myself and needing to be up in the morning to teach dance classes to other geriatrics.
I enjoyed the History lesson, I think it may have confused some attendees though, and not just foreign visitors! Kamikazicowgirl

Thoroughly enjoyed it and I feel the British personality shined through. And what about the lighting of the cauldron - AMAZING.

There was nothing there to celebrate UK innovation and social /economic / political developments over the last 20 years ... there surely must have been some worthy of celebration?

You mentioned the mickey taking personality, I have to admit, I never really took it all that seriously, until I watched an episode of Michael McIntyre's Comedy Road Show.

Our comedians do the same thing here, but only a few will go as far as he does. it was interesting, to say the least

(grumbles quietly... lucky fish). lol He's energetic, I'll give him that. A lot of our Comedians just stand in one place or pace slightly. lol I like how he adds movement and facial expressions.

Thanks,

Congrats to Murray! The hard work's finally paying off and one can only hope Wimbeldon is in the cards down the way. Or maybe even the upcoming U.S. Open? He's got the defense to do it on hard courts.
