why do you need to host your own server just to put a video on your website?? indizine indizine
You can host a video on your own site, to be honest you can do whatever you like to your own site. A lot depends on the type of site you have, eg wordpress/cms site or a bespoke site, versus a freebie website which will have limited to little functionality. Question is why do you want to host your own video? Is there a reason you are against embedding Youtube which is straightforward? If you host it yourself, you need to consider bandwidth each time it's played, site speed etc. If you will be hosting multiple videos, then maybe check your hosting package and make sure it's suitable. With your own website you can just about do anything you want. It's normally a question of budget for using a web designer/developer versus reward/ROI.
hi steve i dont want it on youtube or any other video host i just need it on my own site .
if i upload to my hosting account how do i show it on my page ie do you know the code or is their a program i need to install first Thanks, Toonices
There are lots of depends type questions. Easiest way is to ask your webdesigner, who will have it sorted in minutes (ish) If you are doing it yourself, then it depends on what platform/what code you are using, eg wordpress, php, asp etc. If you are on a wp platform, I've no doubt there is a straightforward plugin that someone has written. Otherwise I'm no webdesigner but I'd assume you would need something like a flash player installed to run video, and this would then give users the chance to copy and embed it if this is what you wanted.
im trying to do it myself and have 2 options html code or sitebuilder but cannot seem to get video playing in sitebuilder even though it gives me options to upload it . Thanks, Toonices
Im missing something here, oh yeah, why????? Let some other mug called utube take the hassle.
