Gah. Why do Google do this? Why??? If I wanted to have every ****hole on the internet able to click my profile and see where I am, where I live, what I'm listening to and where my favourite restaurants are... I would join bloody Facebook! They did it with Buzz as well, at least this one existing Google Accounts users get to choose whether or not they want to use it. I think it's the whole thing about testing it in a corporate environment. If I worked for a big company, it wouldn't give me a panic attack if my colleagues could click on my name and see where I hang out, because anyone dicking about with that information via internal work networks would be logged and therefore at risk of losing their job if they used the information inappropriately. So everyone behaves well. But that doesn't translate to the outside world, with /b/, proxy servers and sock puppet accounts. VirtuallyMary |
