Rant time

Oh Trena, how utterly crap.

Renting can be awful. I've never been able to decide who's worse - the experienced, 'professional' developers with dozens of properties running scam after scam on their tenants because they know what they can get away with? or the inexperienced landlords who leapt onto the buy-to-let bandwagon to tweak their kids' place on the school catchment area and are now surprised to find that there's some responsibilities, too?

There probably are landlords out there who charge reasonable rent, keep their properties in good nick, communicate with their tenants, and refund deposits without having to be chased... shame I've never met one.

The law says that the landlord has to return your deposit to you within a set period of time after the tenancy ends.

I would be threatening them with legal action unless they agree to return the deposit on a set date and time. If he wants you to be reasonable, he shall have to be reasonable also.

Only trouble there is that bringing legal actions against people takes time, money, energy... all things which are in short supply when you're also trying to move house, raise kids, run a small business, and not have your head explode from stress.

I understand that situation...

I have been through it myself, but I also don't like to have the Michael taken out of me either..

Thanks Mary,
That just about sums me up at the minute, couldnt have put it better myself.
Night all, im off to scream very loudly.

Hi all just to let you know, we have found a new house and we are moving in tomorrow.
seems like we have found a good landlord too, since we agreed to take the house 48 hours ago the whole house has been decorated ready for us.
hes even going to build a garage for us to store our equipment in starting next tuesday.
having a mare trying to get everything packed up in such a short time and continue working.
trying desperately to find storage for business equipment for a week till said garage is up.
thanks for all ur support.... onwards and upwards

Briliant news!

Dunno if this is too far over for you, but my mate used these guys for short term storage while he moved house, and thought they were great.

Hey, glad to hear that. Hope you settle in nice and smoothly - or as smoothly as possible, anyway.

thanks for that steve, is a bit too far for us as we need to have access to it daily, but while looking at that link i did find one that was nearer and a reasonable price too. said items are now safely locked away
one less hassle to worry about.
todays the day..... the move begins , the vans outside screaming at us to fill it, the boys are stirring with solemn faces knowing what a mammoth task lies ahead and me...... well im stuck here working online (on and off) till 8pm sunday night as no internet in new house yet.
