the question i have is

when i set up my mini page do i need to have it set up with a separate host and if so can this be a free hosting company (do you know of any that would work) and also if i use a free domain linking service can i use that within the web page/ on facebooke

I assume you mean the fan page? This is done within facebook, not as an external page.

But me personally, I prefer to add the "like" buttons onto your website, which means this will be blasted round peoples walls, and any link backs, will go to your website, and not a FB page.

Static FBML install and config.
Static FBML is an application that will allow you to create you very own HTML min site within your own Fan page.

Example: JobsVitae.co.uk Homepage | Facebook

ahh I'm with you. I think he means that you can simply edit the code using the FB Markup language within your fan page, as opposed to being an external page hosted outside of facebook.

Actually guys, you gotta keep with the times, its all about iFrames now! And that means you can put ANYTHING on there! Made me a very happy bunny when they rolled that out the other day!

Old URL
"http://www.Facebook.com/pages/JobsVitaecouk/146588922031532"

New URL
"http://www.facebook.com/jobs.vitae.

Looks like the fans limit has been increased again, as this fan page now only displays on the original URL. New limit seems to be 25 fans!

A funny now (scary when it happened) true story played out when attempting to claim our company brand as an alias for our existing company Facebook page. When creating the alias for the company page, the user accidentally associated ebizroi, our company brand, the one used for company pages on all social media sites, with a personal Facebook user profile.

The only way to disassociate ebizroi from the newly created personal Facebook profile alias was to change the username of the personal profile to RichardCNoel (those following closely now know who goofed!), which automatically replaced the www . Facebook . com / ebizroi alias for the personal Facebook profile page with www .Facebook. com / RichardCNoel.

The nerve-racking part having to wait roughly 2 weeks for the ebizroi to show as available in the Facebook create username dialog box used to create page aliases (i.e. Facebook vanity URLs). Right after changing username, the www . Facebook . com / ebizroi URL returned a Facebook message of

Awesome info guys! I must say, Facebook has been a really great tool in gathering publicity for us and getting our name out there. I also think, for all those contemplating a Facebook business page, you need to keep in personal. The point of Facebook marketing is to allow the company to have a face, not to bombard people adverts etc.

You may want to look into that, FBML was phased out, no point giving noobs bad info. It all works in iFrames now. Which are even easier!

That didn't have a long life did it!

From the horses mouth:

Facebook Markup Language (FBML) - Facebook developers
"We are in the process of deprecating FBML. If you are building a new application on Facebook.com, please implement your application using HTML, JavaScript and CSS. You can use our JavaScript SDK and Social Plugins to embedded many of the same social features available in FBML. While there is still functionality that we have not ported over yet, we are no longer adding new features to FBML."

Will close this thread as it has now run its course, and it's out of date.
