Guessing you mean Social Media Optimization

Moved you over to the Social Networking forum, as a starter for 10, start reading through some of the threads.

Your question is so general, no ones going to give you a step by step hand holding guide.

break it down into something specific, what is it you want to achieve? Opening a twitter account, incorporating a facebook button?

thank you Steve i have created facebook and twitter account , i just wonder what can i do in the next step . how to get the potential client to follow me .
and let them make a deal with me
But now i have no idea to do it

Creating twitter and facebook accounts are the first steps, now you need to keep it active. If you have a fan page, work on it, and try get it out for the world to see. You can add facebook like boxes to blogs and sites, so if someone visits your site, they can like it there and it will show up on your FB fanpage (or profile).

With twitter though, you can set it to tweet links when you write a new blog post. I know wordpress can do this (wordpress hosted for definite), so when its set up, all you need to do is hit publish, and WP publishes the site to every social network you have set up.

A bit of advice though, don't make every post or tweet be cold calling and hard sell. Don't just tweet one link after the other either, the same with facebook. Take the time to try be part of it all, try talking to people and giving them the opportunity to be able to engage with you. People value that more than looking at link after link.

Good luck with your SMO campaign, I hope it works out well.

Thanks,

Just to add to what has already been said, it is but important to know thyself and what message you want to convey.. this is no different than creating your own marketing plan to promote your business offline.

Seek what you do best and build on it. SMO is all about engaging your market - reach out to them and engage.

Just attended webinars from AMA on SEO and most of the directions there are social and engagement.

These will probably be the secret recipe to any search engine optimization campaign.

To Social - is inevitable.

Must admit, I disagree, I'm still a believer in a blended approach, SEO and SMM. From our experience, Social Media is a powerful tool and a good traffic generator, but only scratches at the surface of the volume of traffic and conversions that SEO brings.

Maybe this will change in time as Google+ gets more established, but even then, it will be simply Social Media entrenched in Search Engine results. Obviously different business types will have different experiences, eg a bar or a naturally social type business will always do better at SMM, but overall, my focus would remain on primarily SEO, and secondary SMM.

I definitely agree with you Steve, and as I said - a secret recipe A blended approach is always the key - just noting that it is being more apparent that social is affecting SERPs more and more as we are coming along.
