The only way I can find a way around this is in producing infographics to post on B2B services and products. But then I have to ask myself the question - who am I doing this for and who is likely to share it?

Interesting point. I've seen floods of infographics, normally the same ones posted again and again from the same users.

But it's a good question, who am I doing it for, who is the target audience, which then answers the question, is it worth spending much time on

In my case no, but I suppose once it's up and running, maybe it will send the odd referral, or dribble of traffic...
