The only problem I see with choping peoples hands off, is that you make them pretty much useless to any future employer...

Thanks,
Barney

Yep a bit harsh maybe, but wouldnt a potential thief be deterred by that rather than worrying about which wrist the Magistrate will slap?

How many times have you watched a car thief being chased by the police on these cop shows, evidence is there in full technicolour glory (to those that arent colour blind) only for the case to be dropped due to a technicality - grr i cant help but yell at the TV, even my boys now aged 14 & 11 say they are horrified at what they see sometimes.

No respect for the Law, Police or other peoples property anymore

Well thankfully we are a civilised society then, I did read a statistic somewhere that 1 in 3 of the UK's male population has a criminal record because that would be a lot of one handed bods walking around, who no doubt would all end up on benefits. I'm quite happy for convicted people to be in chain gangs, but to start lopping off limbs and killing them via the legal system in the name of justice to me is quite sick. And speaking as someone who use to quite happily fill his pockets with sweets from the pic n mix at Woolworths on a Saturday morning I'm glad we don't have a chop chop square here, as I'd probably only have a head left as I was forever getting caught....

I dunno, make 'em wear a big hat with a road works stop/go sign, options are endless. Now stuck with Eydies tune in my head

ok, chopping hands off may not be on the next judicial review, but the point I was making was the deterrent.

Chain gang, outsourced slave labour, hard days graft, wearing a pink jumpsuit, whatever is deemed a suitable deterrent.
