We are in a very niche business of Black Mould Eradication, thermal insulation for non cavity walls and pest control, Quype have a premium posting for the mould and insulation. What do i want out of it, VALUE FOR MONEY being a niche market the product and fitting is not cheap so two decent jobs or 4 reasonable jobs in the year would pay for the advert and all would seem well. however i have had no response apart from 1 follow through to my website and so this makes the advert as expensive as Yell.
By now the advert should have paid for itself if the advertising was aimed into the market that i was told it would be when i signed up. But i feel it was a ploy to get a signature, and to the day i have a full refund which looks as yhough that is what will happen, i will still say that it was a bad decision to join them. I have had my fingers burnt and would say to most people out there "if you are in a niche market find somewhere else to advertise." Normally i would accept a good or a bad decision on the marketing as just oner of those things, however one of the things that sold me the package was 1000 viewings in the year to my site or my money back, trust me they are going to have to find something very special now to get those figures, mainly cos the busy time of the year for the quotes for this work is nearly over.

still finding it hard to get replies from qype no matter how or where i post the email, the only place i get a response is when i go on here and state my thoughts.
this should not be.

Just to note - the qype links and 'premium' paid links are actually 'nofollow', which means that they have no effect upon search engine rank.

Qype are quite clever about that, they encourage busniesses to link into the relevent qype review page increasing it's search engine rank - but then reciprocate with a link out that is worthless in SEO terms.

I know more about search engine optimising than I do about adverts - so feel free to ask me to clarify any points on that area.

We did just that and received a full refund, and so we were happy with the outcome, but not happy about the way we had to do it.
The promises from them could not be met, and so a refund was going to happen sooner or later anyway, we were able to get out of the situation amicably so a good ending happened in this case.

It seems like you know some good stuff about SEO and Online Marketing, don't forget to come and introduce yourself and let people know more about you.

Well, had a mail come through today telling me my Qype account is now officially closed.

Yelp bought Qype in October 2012, and there was speculation as to what would happen. I suspected Yelp would absorb the Qype database then dispense with the Qype brand, and it looks that's what's happened, although it's obviously taken a while to happen.

Was never a fan of Qype visually, but we had a good business partnership with them for a few years till Yelp bought them

So au-revouir Qype, always a good one for controversy, and I know you will be missed by ithastobedone
