An Imperfect Business - social media

The problem I find with twitter is that the news feed updates so quickly (especially for people who are following a lot of people) that your tweet is soon replaced by the tweets of others, sometimes within minutes whereas with facebook the content you write stays visible and current for much longer as the news feed does not change so rapidly.

That's a good point - it's also probably why I use it as a reading medium as a opposed to a writing medium.

Thanks,

I think on Twitter's side - it's a matter of just being there and sharing relevant tweets about your industry. in the business side of promoting via twitter - it would be a good way to reach out - reach your information out there.

It can also be one way of humanizing your company.

This wasn't an issue when tweets were being incorporated into Googles search results, and made twitter a more viable marketing medium. I wish these different networks would stop empire building and start talking and collaborating more with each other.

They all keep banging on about the end user experience, but in reality it's all about keeping the user on your own network, and not whats best for the user.

The imperfection of social media is normal. But its effectiveness (or ineffectiveness) is fully dependent on utilization.

Politics. That's something we can't do away with. It's true that it is one of the things that pull back the world of business from perfection and their entire so-called unattainable utopia.

Oh and yes, the article pointed out the traditional failure of theories. That's true. There are a lot of theories generated by the so-called wise guys that have actually failed. One is postmodernism that talks about deconstruction. In itself, it is self-destructive. With that, it isn't a sound theory at all. So in business (as well as in life) we should consider the practicability of the theories we apply.

Ok....It is more like anti- social media people here. No way of marketing is perfect. It is the combination of every marketing strategy that will give you an edge over the others. And social media is definitely a major part of this. Many people are using the internet for businesses. I ave sen many cases where social media has generated a significant number of leads. Also, it gives proper facts and figures i.e. it will tell you how much you have earned out of a particular campaign.
