What are your views?

A number of business friends are always mentioning the fact that I don't use twitter to promote my business.......but I wouldn't know what to post! I feel it would be bad for my business to have a poor twitter page than no twitter page. What are your views? ![]() Replacemyscreen.co.uk
I use twitter but it's not as effective at marketing as people make it out to be. ![]() Eagle
I agree - Twitter is a complete waste of space for most businesses. Concentrate on other aspects of the marketing mix. Drian
It's all just another area of Internet Marketing one could use, and happens to be the most popular in some aspects. You don't have to jump on that bandwagon if you don't feel like it. Our Company has a twitter page, but I generally use it for reputation and not any real marketing. When I add a new blog post, its automatically sent to twitter. Other than that, I retweet followers tweets when I have the time to actually spend on twitter. I think our Facebook page has cobwebs already ![]() Thanks, Dreamraven
I cheat, we auto tweet some of the forum threads. On the rare occasion I log on to twitter, it's awash with spam and sales pitch. Echo everyone else, don't worry about it, I think there are better more personal forms of social networking (forums, FB etc). But with as with all forms of marketing, track your results. No point being a Social Butterfly for 8 hours a day while your business goes down the pan! ![]()
Twitter is a useful micro-blogging and social networking site but it's used now very widely in the entire world and some are using it very improper way that's not so good.. But if you use it in proper way then it's useful to generate some traffic to the site. Don't use the way which looks like spamming is going on!!!
Like Eagle said don't lose sleep over it. Not a lot of companies generate a lot of business from it. Its good luck to raise awareness and keep your followers of things going on with your company and just what you want to say about you industry, thoughts etc. Basically its not really important to have it just assumed that every company has or needs a twitter account. You could get a twitter and use tweet deck or similar programs to carry out auto tweeting for you. Accounting Help
I don't think it's the be all or end all. I guess it depends on your type of business as to how much you would benefit from Twitter. I only really use mine to tweet new blog posts we've written, any promotions/offers or news and to occasionally retweet anything I find interesting which is related to me/something i feel my followers might like. Less time consuming this way as well. Accounting Help
I wouldn't be too worried about Twitter if I were you. Sure it's another tool to get your business name out there a little but overall it's pretty much useless, it's mostly there so you can say; "Yes, I have Twitter." When someone asks. It's good for holding a reputation/presence. I prefer Facebook at the moment but then I get home, check out my own personal one and lose all faith ![]() |
