I disagree I am sorry but Twitter is a totally diffirent platform to your website for example

Say I ran an SEO Blog and I posted tips on that blog, Only people who knew the blog is there would see it but.

On my Twitter account say I have 1000 people following me and I post the link thats 1000 potential new customers and 1000 potential new people clicking my site which increases traffic and SEO.

I do agree though there is no point having a twitter update box on your website saying the last 5 things you put on Twitter as people already know cus they are on your website.

Thanks,

Well you can disagree all you want, lol.

513 Following 38 Followers 1 < But with those kind of stats you may want to rethink it, and do something that works, and I mean that in the nicest possible way, but Twitter has been a god send for me, in fact I would say it turned our company from earning, to racking it in.

By using it as a business tool you may slip up unless you make it personal too.

People are on Twitter to connect with each other, not to look for SEO tips, they do that on google, but once you have a personal relationship with someone there is more chance they will use your services, if they like what you offer and how you produce your work anyway.

I'm not saying Twitter is bad I love it but it helps no matter what anyone says it helps.

People didn't think Facebook would help but how many people use it for there business?

I don't rank my Twitter to be honest it has a rank of 61/100 not great but I dont spend hours adding people and making friends I let them come to me

Thanks,
Kevin.Wiles

I keep blowing hot and cold with twitter, I've gone from cynical and anti, too pleasently surprised (mainly with a bit of help from our man Kip), but have recently relegated it to an auto tweet from this forum, mainly due to not having enough time.

But its interesting to occasionally logon, I average about 730 followers, it increases and decreases, but stays roughly about the same level. I seemed to have plateau'd

Disagree about facebook, we've tried it and got nothing. I think the audience arent as receptive to advertising as they are engaged in interacting with the actual site, as opposed to a more static site, where the advertising can signal a logical exit point.

I agree with Biz Angel about the content scrapers, people do get lazy when it comes to content, but good content will always be good content, be it on a blog, site or a tweet.

I started using twitter from a branding side, build up my name on there, chasing celebs etc. Then found that people actually chat on there, now am always on it, on the phone or via the web, the amount of work and quotes is crazy, I do everything you shouldn't do on it, I tweet personal stuff, I tweet friends, I have debates and sneak in offers and web links, but it works! Twitter is one of the thingyou have to hammer a bibefore anything comes from it.
But last wednesday I sat in a pub in Notts having a drink with Chesney Hawkes!

Stick with it, be a person, and connect with people, then it all falls into place!

Hi Trena, took me a long while, (and still not 100% convinced!) how to adapt twitter to business. One of the main ways is to build up a following, easiest (and prob breaks all the rules) way to do it, is to follow a few people, and they normally follow you back.

Add your twitter link to twitter threads like our one.
http://www.mylocalforums.com/offline-sales-marketing-pr/58-twitter-username-thread.html

Go to your twitter home page, and copy the URL (from HTTP:// onwards, and paste it into the above thread.

So mine for example is: (the forum software will probarbly make your URL look friendly automatically)
MyLocalForums (stevie_rich) on Twitter

hope that helps, then soon you will be mixing with the stars like our man Kip!
