As far as I know Google does not read links from Twitter, so it is useless to promote links there

Thanks,

Google signed a $25 million dollar deal with Twitter to start indexing the posts, so you were right at the start of the year, but now, Google is looking at Twitter for links and content aswell

Really?
That is good news!

Does it mean now when you put your link in Twitter, Google would read it?

Thanks,

To the original question, IMHO - the answer is yes.

I'm surprised people haven't seen Twitter accounts appear when they've done searches in Google. I've seen it a few times now. I don't see the tweets, it tends to be just the "Bio" in the details.

They tend to be where people are not using their real names for twitter accounts, and so, it's a bit like domain names, if your username in Twitter is henleyweb (yes made it up) rather than Fred Bloggs, it will appear higher in Google when, for example, people search for Henley Web Design.

Not sure if more Twitter details will be in searches moving forward. I guess we'll have to see....

...oh and hello, haven't introduced myself yet!

thats the theory, but as Mr B says, I've also seen some Bio details in google results, but not many tweets. Guess Google are still refining it.

Remember Yahoo and Bing also recently signed Twitter deals, so you should see links and content passed over there as well.

This is why my tweets are now protected, so Google does not put my tweets over my website ranking, people retweet my links without google seeing my actual tweeting! As I use it for personal twittering aswell!

This is such good stuff. I am completely ignorant of Twitter but would really like to know how to use it effectively.

If you've got an account on Twitter, then visit the twitter username thread and get a few more followers
