Becoming a Non Smoker

I think the smoking ban on social places like pubs etc have encouraged and helped a lot of people. I also think they should keep the prices going up, that has also had a big effect. I would go far as saying that is probably by the far one of the biggest reasons for people stopping, and obviously the social change in terms of the fact that smoking became "unsocial" - if there is such a word.

Oh yes, very unsocial smelly smokers...the cost of tobbaco is also approaching similar cost to drugs like heroin, in other words it costs about the same to smoke as it does to use a bag of heroin per day. Both equally anti-social...

Wouldnt know about the cost of drugs

Spoken like a true ex smoker though

There've been some instances of e-cigs spontaneously combusting so I'm not happy about anyone "smoking" one near me...

A lass asked me "permission" to light up while she was standing next to the door on a train stuffed full with passengers and their luggage; I wasn't at all happy with the idea.  If anything had caused a panic on that train there would have been crush injuries, at the very least.

Never thought of that, ecigs have become more popular and they can be just as irritating as regular cigs for others standing nearby. My friend continues to smoke a wild berry flavour, the smell makes me want to throw up. If he lit that on a train I suspect the ecig and him would ejected at high speed.?

What does everyone else think? Should you be allowed to puff on ecigs in public places?

I don't like it, but I am a miserable old sod.

I think they do have an odourless version too - that wouldn't bother me except don't they emit nicotine too? That i do have a problem with!

I never thought we would be back in to the passive smoking debate with e-cigs. It just shows the lack of research and the "greed" associated with simply getting a product on to the market. Whilst I do hope they are safe we have actively decided not to stock e-cigs or oils in our shop until the debate/testing is conclusive in respect of the non-harmful effects of the product.

My biggest fear is seeing more and more youngsters using them, will that lead to actual smoking?

I think the safest way you can wean yourself off smoking is the patches or gum, or go cold turkey

Least its only you that gets the nicotine from the product, however i have no actual facts regarding these ecigs, so i will stand corrected

Totally agree Ray, not enough research into these ecigs - lots more needs to be done

I quit smoking cigarettes successfully cold turkey March 11th. I quit for my sons First birthday, having numerous reason as to why I should QUIT. The main one being, my father was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few months prior. I promised my son I would do everything in my power in order to be here with him as long as possible.

I have had a cigarette here and there sense than, for the most part I have kept my promise. (I only smoke when I drink which is very rarely. Lately I find myself not even having a couple drags when I am severely intoxicated. haha )

Well done for quitting, but remember, there are only smokers or non smokers!

Part time or occasional smokers are still smokers  Keep the faith and fight any temptation! Wrigleys gum works for me
